;help On the 1980 how is the center front of the urethane (not the rubber) front spoiler supposed to be connected to the metal support which hangs down below the bumper?
At the moment the front of my spoiler is hanging lose. It appears to me to be missing some type of unusual fastener. I checked my 82 for comparison and found that part of the center support actual curled under the front spoiler to support it. Looks like a slightly different design.:confused
Can anyone post a pic of the 80 spoiler mounted correctly?

Hitching along, because mine in the same way. No middle support, its also missing the cushion.

Did you ever get a response? I have the same problem on my '81. Looks like the center front spoiler on it has been replaced at some time already, because it's fiberglas, not urethane. It was hanging loose when I bought the car this June, and now it's dragging (will probably have to replace it, since there's now a ragged hole at the point) :cry

From what I've seen in other threads, this air dam is vital to keeping the engine cool...otherwise I'd just toss it!

Hey Guys -

I found these pics in other posts. I had the same issue with mine.

vanacorvette.com has a picture of a new frame extension that has the mounting hook on it; but the part was not available when I was dealing with mine.

I ended up fabricating something that looks close. I'm away from the car for a few days, so I don't have any pics.

I noticed at least a 20 degree drop in temp with the valance mounted properly.

Hope it helps

Scott

Thanks for posting these, Scott. I'm assuming the 81 is very similar to the 80...and that hook is missing from my 81...probably why the nose of the air dam falls like it does.

When I replace it, looks like I'm going to have to fabricate something to replace the hook too. Previous owner must have hit the curb too hard once too often!
