Trying to figure out what exhaust would give me a "hot rod" or "throatier" exhaust note, but will not have too much more interior resonance over the stock set up on my 94 Coupe. I'm extremely confused! I see video clips on the Corsa site, and like the sound, but that is on a C5. Should I expect a stock C4 to sound similar? How about Monza mufflers? Has anyone put them on a C4, and what was the result? I have a friend with a 70 who put Monza's on, but you can't compare the sound he got to my C4 I don't think...or can I? Any advice is appreciated! Any other sound clips out there, I'd appreciate the link!

Joe,

I'm not the original owner of my C4 - but I've just had it checked by Corvette Care here in Columbus - all this guy does is work on Corvettes and the body shop there is currently working on 8 restorations. I said that to say this...
Lloyd Harvey, the owner of Corvette Care said my C4 "sounds like a Corvette should sound".

I don't have the paperwork to verify - but from all I can tell by talking to others and scouring web sites and catalogs, I believe my exhaust is an "Eliminator".

Mind you, mine has been modified with shorty headers and a true dual exhaust with dual catalytic converters.

This puppy has some bark when you step on the gas -- but is VERY quiet on the highway. Normal conversation and stereo output is no problem.

The set up I have looks identical to the LT1 Style Targa mufflers from Mid Amercia Motorworks - item #603-412

Hope this gives you some idea....

Oh yes, it WILL wake your neighbors at 4 in the morning! :D

Joe Deb Vette, I think you're going to have to do he same thing I need to do....find some vettes with those set-ups and listen to them and ride in them to make your own decision. I was pretty sure I wanted to go with the Borla's, but now I am really leaning toward the Corsa system. I just need to locate a couple of cars with those systems to find out for myself. Taking someones elses opinion might be a costly mistake.:)

I have had Magnaflow stainless steel mufflers on my 96 LT1 AT for over a year now, and they sound great to me. Socially responsible, quiet while cruising (very little resonance), but they really wail when you stand on the accelerator! Price is right , too.

Listen!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Toms94 reply makes the most sense and will take the worry out of selecting the wrong exhaust.

Also keep in mind besides the sound some systems are better as far as breathing.

This is outside my box, so l cannot offer any advice.

I have a 93 with Corsa catbacks, great sound and looks:w

I am surprised how come Edmond and JEFNLISA have not responded to this thread yet :) Edmond will say Flowmaster, JEFNLISA will say Magnaflow... And some others could say muffler eliminators. And I will say I dunno...

everyone has different tastes. What sounds great to me might be too loud for you.

Ask around at your local Corvette Club. Listen to as many different combo's as possible and then make your decision.

welcome to the :CAC

For just downright good looks, it's hard to beat those Magnaflows

magnaflows

listen to everyone's advice, check out other cars' systems. I was in the same position as you last week. I went to a vette club meeting and asked around and listened to their exhausts and finally decided to go with magnaflows. Actually AdvancedautoCC on the forum is doing the work next week for me.
remember, it's all personal preference that makes a car sound good.

if you haven't made a decision by next week, hopefully i can post a sound clip of the magnaflows on my c4. otherwise good luck!

It's all subjective

What sounds good to one doesn't to another...same with Harley pipes :D (my Dyna sounded like a big block Chevy with Screamin' Eagle exhaust with no baffles... I loved setting off car alarms!)

I put a set of Twisters on an '85 awhile back, and you damn near needed earmuffs in the shop when it was done, but the owner loved the sound of them.
His other ride has Flowmaster 40's on it, with a stock type resonator in place of the cat (I didn't do this one), and it's as quiet as a stocker till you hammer it. Magnaflows sound sort of like this setup, and when you add a crossover, it really sounds like it's wailing at high RPM. Borlas (not the Stingers) sound about like Magnaflows. Flowmasters do rock, but you better have a good stereo (and not value your hearing for you younger tykes LOL), as interior resonance is an issue with 40 series. 50 series will fit, but it takes a bit of work. Anyway...my best advice is along with the other forum guys..go out and LISTEN to various Vettes with different systems, and then decide on what you want.

:D He doesn't want interior noise so that pretty much leaves out Flowmaster!:L

I personally love the rumble, not to mention that it can intimidate!:L

Thanks for the info...would LOVE to hear a soundclip! Thanks again...

Understand another thing, though, when listening. An aggressive camshaft will deliver a raspier or harsher sound on any system. Enquire while listening.

I really don't understand this Flowmast system resonance thing. I have a very aggressive cam, run a stock CAT and the 3" TPIS header-to-tail long tube system. The tips stick out farther than stock, which may be why I have no trouble hearing the roar, but have little or no resonance from these Flowmasters..

This is the primary reason.... cats act as a resonator.

I have corsa and think thay are great i dont think you could go wrong with them. but try and listen to and ride in some one's car and make a educated decision.
