Not necessarily. The 2006 Z06 base price is set at: $65,800. The base price of a 2005 Coupe is: $44,510. That is a starting base price difference of: $21,290. That's a significant difference in price and $21,290 can be a very important factor to a lot of people who can't afford that kind of money.
Besides, who cares what other people think of your purchasing decision. You bought a Corvette regardless of whether or not it's a coupe, convertible, or Z06. That's all that matters.
I bought a 1990 ZR-1 four years after it rolled off the assembly line. It only has 375 hp. I would have liked to have bought a 1993 40th Anniversary ZR-1 with 405 hp, but I couldn't afford one at that time. When I made the decision to buy an "old" ZR-1 because it was all I could afford, I didn't care what anyone thought about it. I was on cloud nine when it got delivered to my driveway. I have yet to fall off that cloud.
Speaking of that....time to go pull that ole plastic beast out of the garage and enjoy cloud nine.
