courtesy lights won't go off

After a car show this weekend I had a dead battery. Got the car started and home. After it started it charged back up to 14.1 volts and stayed there while running. It sat in the garage all night and started this morning. Started checking and found that when the rear hatch is left opened (as it was at the show) the interior lights will not go off. With the hatch shut the lights work properly shutting off in about 30 seconds after the doors are closed. the under hood light also works properly. It appears the problem is with the hatch - when ever it is open the interior lights come on and stay on. Can I pull a fuse to kill the interior lights at this weekends show if they stay on? Have I somehow "unprogrammed the interior lights" Any ideas how to fix this properly?

Thanks - this morning tyhey seem to be working properly. Still wonder if it's a problem with the car or something i'm doing. Need to know what fuse controls the courtesy lights so i can pull it if this happens again

Try pulling fuse #29 in the floor box and see if they go out. I think that is the fuse for the courtesy lights. If I'm wrong, someone will correct me I'm pretty sure.

#29 in the inside fuse panel kills them. However the original battery was dead thursday morning and I replaced it. Checked everything in the driveway and all worked normal. Went to a show this weekend (hatch and hood open all day) and lights went out just as they should - 15 minutes. Suspect that the original battery was on it's last leg causing other problems.

At car shows I always leave the hood, doors and hatch open and all of the lights go off in 15 minutes. I can't imagine why yours wouldn't.

Voltage is pretty touchy in these things. Glad you got it figured out.
