Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

*cries* :(

Don't fret, there's one out there with your name on it. :cool

If you want it bad enough, you'll get it. Patience Grasshopper. ;)

yeah

problem for me is, that because im doing shift work, its very hard to check out cars that often. And this one was close to where I live (alexandria va), so it was kind of begging for me to check it out... obviously i got the wrong message =\

heheh security sucks in hours, for me its great in pay though considering my age. I have no other expenses due to legal restrictions (I live with my p's which helps a LOT) I can afford what most others my age can't (eg. a vette ;)). But I won't be in this job for long, I'm a web designer/network guru by nature.

So things may pick up for me on the weekends in future :) *crosses fingers* :Steer

Hey Aussie! There is a black 69 'vert for sale a few blocks down the road here in Manassas. The motor is not original, it has a 350/350 with M-21. It was originally gold and needs an interior kit. I happened to be riding my bike past and talked to the guy about it. He popped the hood and it looks pretty decent plus he has redone front and rear suspensions. The paint isn't the best but looks good and the body isn't perfect but also looks good. He was asking $10k but I'm not in the market. If you're interested, I'll give you his phone number and happily meet up with you to look it over if you want a second set of eyes on it.

:eek

What do you mean by body isn't perfect? Any dints or is it just a product of the paint job? You think the top was in good waterproof and aesthetic condition, or couldn't you see?

ok, before i make any inquiries, could I ask the following to all those who can help:

1) how much is a good respray from a good serviceman in the VA area? I want it black or burgandy, and reletively deep. Including the engine bay.

2) If any of the the dials (clock/tach/etc) aren't working, [how much] is it costly to get them fixed? (not in parts, but in service).

3) Any other pointers to look for besides frame rust are helpful :)

4) How much are sidepipe exhausts installed? That is going to be a neccessity :D

71Shark, I am interested, but don't want an impulse buy is all... For $10g's though, I can afford quite a bit of touch up and fixes - though I don't want anything too dramatic at the moment. But why would it be only $10k?

Needs work and non original engine?

For a deep black or burgandy paint job that you could fall into, I'd look between $4k and $8k+ for quality work.

I could see evidence of fiberglass repair under the right front fender and, as is the case with so many sharks, you could see very faint rivet circles across the headlight area. The paint is recent and only had a couple minor scratches so it would show nicely. The top was new and looked to be a pretty solid fit but waterproof is a different question since I never really inspected it too closely.

Heidi is probably pretty close on this one. Black is a tough color so you're going to want someone that stands by there work for touch ups.

There are rebuild services for most of the gauges that aren't too steep through most of the catalog shops.

Rust is the biggest thing but there are lots of places to look for it: t-arms, rear frame kick up, windshield frame. Vacuum issues should be checked: headlights, wiper door. There are lots of other areas that should be checked, run a search in this forum for words like "buying a shark" or something along those lines and you'll see a number of posts.

You're in luck, this car already has headers and black sidepipes, not sure what brand though and he didn't start the car so I don't know how it sounds.

Like Heidi said, it needs a little work and isn't perfect. If he's asking 10, he'll probably go lower.
