The cruise on our '84 didn't work. I checked for the usual gremlins and found nothing amiss. I wondered about the turn signal mounted switch, but I shrugged it off because it looked/felt okay.
I finally tested it, and eureka! The set/coast switch was permanently engaged. The button behaved normally, but the switch was engaged inside the housing. I installed a new switch, and all is well. (The switch was $150. If a guy wanted to put that off for awhile, he could switch wires and use the resume/accelerate lever for set/coast and have no res/accel.)
