Hey Guys,
Does anyone know what to look for first on an 87 coupe when the cruise control stops working? Fuses look good.

Thanks for any input.

Rick

Check both vac lines for cracks or holes. The smaller one goes to the intake and the larger one goes to a switch on the peddles ie: brake and clutch.

I hopes this helps

SoLow,
Thanks for responding. I'll check that this weekend. I will follow both hoses and check as far as I can. I guess one goes thru the firewall going to the pedals

Take care ,
Rick

I bet if you touch the vac lines going to the cruise diaphram they turn your fingers black.

Sure sign of "aging" , dry-rot, whatever. Most likely replacing them will solve your problem.

Also, if anyone has been under the driver side dash near the pedals, the adjustment of the release switches near the brake pedal could have been disturbed. One is an electircal release, and the other a vaccum release. Both need to be adjusted properly or the cruise won't work. Also, the check valve near the base of the distributor can go bad also. Cost less than a dollar at the parts stores.
