Cruise Control cuts off for no obvious reason?

Originally I started a thread asking for assistance troubleshooting this problem as it appeared to be caused/connected to the Traction Control/Active Handling system in my car...

2004 Triple Black Coupe
55k miles
Sumitomo HTR Z II (for summer use only) 5 months old
Only mechanical issues to date: Both window motors replaced
NO DTC (codes) ON THE DIC (using Config, Fuel X 4)

The cruise control is still disengaging randomly, but now there are no messages displayed on the DIC other than "Cruise Control Disengaged".

I can immediately push the "Resume" button and the car will accelerate back to the preset speed, only to cut out again and coast....

If it's a cool day, it works fine.....On hot days (95+) Its a safe bet to happen....

Anyone else experience this? Thanks in advance!

Make sure your brake and clutch switch (6spd) under the dash are not out of adjustment.

Right on!....thanks for the speedy reply!

I'm leaning toward the brake switch (I've got an auto tranny) being out of adjustment...

Gotta' give it a look first thing in the am!

Thanks again!

Bog,

Also be checking out the vacuum lines that are instrumental in the operation of the CC. Tiny cracks will cause your issue to be exhibited.

Please consider supporting the invaluable resource that is CAC.

C5's are fly by wire throttle control control, which vacuum lines are you referring to?

Duh, I went through this on my 91 and was still thinking in C4 mode.

My apologies Bog.

Those indeed did have vacuum controls. Fly by wire sure makes those older cruise control systems obsolete, no hunting or surging, just nice steady throttle control.

Sorry for the late response!

Thanks for posting all the great ideas!....

For some odd reason, I'm not getting any "Instant Email Notifications" when someone posts a reply in my thread?

Would you believe I aired up my tires to 35psi, and after 3 days, the problem has yet to occur?....

I know, this is CRAZY and unrelated to the system, but it is true....

Trust me, I know the problem is still there, and it's only a matter of time before it starts acting up again.....

But for now, I'm happy! ;)
