How many of you plan to purchase the C6 the first (or second) year of production? If it is an all-out head-turner/street-burner, will you dump your current Vette (if necessary) to get into one? Personally, if it is all that we expect, my ego might not let me cruise around in my lil' ole C5 if I know there's an ultimate Corvette available.....but that's just me and my ego.:eyerole

The first couple of years of new corvette production are usually way overpriced. You pay such a premium for the car that it is just not worth buying one. If it is everything I want the car to be, then I would buy one 3-4 years into production.

well judging from the about corvette changes you will have a good 10 years to pick one up so there will be plenty of time. and the first few years are to work out the bugs. so it would be easier to wait till they are smoothed out to buy one

I KNOW I'll get one. There will be a time and place, the mood just right..... then poof, it'll be done.

I don't believe it will be the first year. I'll do what I usually do, buy it with no trade-in and sell my '02 later.

I know that the first couple of years are for working out the bugs but I have a problem and I'm not afraid to admit it.:( Over the past 10 yrs., I've averaged a new car every 2 yrs. I always have to have the "what's hot" car. Most cars have their time and then it's gone. This is the first time that I've owned something that's always "in" (i.e. Corvette). But I have the feeling that when I see the first commercial, or see that new owner cruisin' down the highway with a huge smile on his face in his new C6, I might go nuts!:eek :J I've gotten a lot better as I've gotten older but I'm sure that I'm going to get that itch! Please, people, try to keep me grounded!!!!:SLAP

VAmagred01,

You're asking the wrong guy. I'll be the one to bring you to the dealer and buy one too.

Chuck

I'm with VAmagred01, I love to drive what's hot at the time, and by the grace of God, I'm lucky enough to afford myself that pleasure.

I bought the C4 in 84, the C5 in 97 and I'll buy the C6 as soon as it's available. I kept my Vettes approximately three years and then swapped between other exotic cars like Porsche, NSX, Jaguar, etc.

The only thing that would stop me from buying the C6 is if I don't like it, and based on the last 50 years of Corvette history, there isn't much chance of that happening.

I love sports cars, and driving the latest greatest Vette is always a class act in my book.

It will be a challenge for me to keep my driver ('87 4+3, 120k miles - all mine) until the C6 is out. Its been a good car, but I'm very tired of it. I may start putting some miles on my '79 L-82 to fill the time gap. If I can get a decent deal, I will be getting a late first year C6 - almost no doubt about it.

I am one who loves my Vette but I have to admit it was hard the last few years to keep it because I feel that the C5 is a much better one.?If I had a C5 I probably wouldn't be thinking of getting a C6.The reason I want to change my C4 is because of the luggage space,cd changer, adjustable suspension, and extra power.I came close to buying a 2000,a 2001 and now a 2003.I think that the C6 will be a goodlooking vette with more power which is why I am tyring to hang on to my C4 for now. There is no doubt that the few first years will be pricey but hey that's part of the cost of driving a new model.I will probably hold out for a convertible because I don't need it as a daily driver and the summer is too short(especially because I don't drive it in the rain).I just hope I can wait that long!!!

It's good to see that there are some people out there like myself (i.e. a car-nut)! I think that the real thing that might keep me grounded is the $$$'s! These are pricey toys for people whom work for their money......unfortunately, I'm one of them.....I wish I was fortunate enough to have my money work for me. I'm young and make a nice living, but unlike some, I financed my Vette. I do find it rather difficult making that very high (to me, atleast) monthly payment for something that sits in my garage 98% of the year....well, until I take it out for a spin and then I realize the reason that I'm dishin' out that kind of dough!:Steer :bu Nonetheless, if this C6 is a beaut'......then it's going to be very, very difficult.

Hey, "HOTMOTORSPORTS," looks like we're going to have to hold each other back!.....unless "Sportscarnut" lets me borrow some money!:L

Regards,
Kenny

Not until the GMS pricing is in effect or 2007 what ever come first.

Well guys, I love my C3 and would prefer driving it to a new one. For the kind of money they ask for a new one I can do a lot updating and best of all DRIVING my C3. I still think the C3s look better anyway. IT's a real Corvette.

Never ever will I buy a first year GM car again.
i agree with that.i might get one the third year when the horsepower will likely go up and the bugs are worked out.im not sure yet,i need to see the real car first,so far with the cammo on it,it looks like a c5,ive already got 400hp in my c5 and more by the time the c6 is out,it will have to be a dramatic difference in styling, and from the lastest g.m. quote im thinking its not.they said the car is evolutionary not revolutionary, which means its going to look like a c5;shrug

The plan would be to get the 2nd year C6/Z06 for me. I guess this means wait until 2007.

Copdogcorvettes,

You haven't tried a C4 ZR1, LT4 or any C5 have you. C1 through C5 are ALL REAL CORVETTES. They had different styles to get the blood flowing for different people.

What's a fake Corvette? I thought that was the Opel GT!

To me, the Corvettes that I like best are the '61/62, 63 - 67 Coupe, 68 - 72 Coupe, ZR1's, LT4's, and every C5. They MUST also have standard transmissions. Does that mean the others are fake Corvettes?

Everything you stated was good opinion until you said "IT's a real corvette".

Iam going to wait for the 2nd or 3rd year ZO6.

Thanks for the input everyone. I guess I should be content with what I have and wait a couple of years into the C6.:v

My plan is to wait and see what it looks like and if it grabs me wait a few years and get a top notch used one. Never again will I get bopped over the head buying brand new cars.
