After removing the rear bumpers off my '73, it is apparent that this car may have been in a parling lot mishap. There is no damage to any of the brackets or frame when I inspected the under side. There is a crack approximately 4" long that runs along the eyebrow just beneath the bumper at the mounting bolt hole. The fiberglass is still in stressed since the crack is shifted like a fault line. Should I just cut this section out completely, or would it be better to cut locally at the fault line to relieve the stress and then glass it back together?

Hello from one Michigander to another.

I steer clear of fiberglass work myself. I've spent way too many hours sanding, fiiling and sanding and being disapppointed with the results. I would suggest taking it to a body shop for a quote and asking how they'd do it. You might even be pleasantly surprised by the price.

Right now my '73 is in the shop having her new nose piece painted. I fitted it myself but asked them to do all the prep - fibreglass dust is nasty stuff and I'm sure a pro can do it better than I can.
