Hey gang

. Daily for the last 3 days my 2001 coupe seems to be possessed. The display will read things like REDUCED ENGINE POWER, LOW FUEL, SERVICE TIRE MONITOR SYSTEM. The temp guage is pegged, Oil Pressure reads 0, Fuel guage reads 0, and volt meter is functioning. Radio shuts off, windows don't function along with the auto door locks and a/c.

I pulled the codes~

I see that most of these codes are tripped for a lack of communication with other modules. I am at wits end because I don't know where to start. I know that some of you here have encountered this problem, and would very much appreciate your input on how to rid my car of these demons. Thank you in advance. Also, Does anyone have any recommendations for a reputable repair facility that could fix my Vette is the Sacramento, CA area? Thank you

Always start with the basics, clean and tight battery cables that cannot be twisted when tight, and have the battery tested with a proper carbon pile load tester.

In cases like you're describing I'd investigate for grounding problems; Corvettes in general are notorious for developing such issues.

^yeahthat Had a similar problem that went away once I cleaned up all the grounding points. If I remember correctly, driver's side of engine grounds were really funky and I suspect that's where the problem was.

Step 1: Get the battery tested. Replace as necessary
Step 2: Check and tighten and/or clean if necessary all ground connections. The locations of those connections are listed in the Factory Service Manual.

If all those U codes persist, Step 3: Check wires and connections between the modules affected. Repair as necessary.

If the battery and cables test good, the next step would be to check the electrical portion of the ignition switch as it feeds all those circuits one way or another. If the problem is active, try wiggling the ignition switch side to side (from the run position to almost cranking and back to almost accessories) slowly and see if anything changes.

All the above..

My issues were caused by dirty connectors. Once they were cleaned or replaced, I had no problems.

Thank you for your replies everyone. Looks like I have my work cut out for me:happyanim::chuckle
