Has anyone tried to repair one of these circuit boards? I have an 80 and 81 that both (go figure) have very small breaks in the copper on the ground side of the circuit channel for the dash lights. Can you peel the plastic back (already done) and put a drop of sodder on the channel to do the repair?

Any suggestions (other than shelling out 70$ for new ones)?

Thanks,
Clint

I once bought a bottle of repair liquid to repair the rear window defrost grid on my 76, i wonder if it will work for that repair/ i would also try soldering the circuit board before buying a new one. What do you have to loose?

Great idea, where did you find the repair liquid for the defroster grid? Basically it is the same principle.
Thanks,
Clint

One other idea to try that I have used successfully is:
Get small gage stranded zip cord, lamp cord, etc.
Strip insulation
Gather several strands of bare wire together
Solder on each side of break in pcb board with a low wattage soldering iron
Clip the wires loose after soldering

Seems to work well and the wires are flexible enough that I have used this on both rigid and the later flexible plastic pc boards

Thanks,

Mike

Cudos to LVMYVT76. It worked like a charm, dabbed a bit of paint and now the board is as good as new and back in the car working.
THANKS!

On to the next challange (Intermitten wippers).
Thanks,
Clint

Let us know how long the paint repair lasts.
