Hi everyone. Anybody have a link to pix that illustrate where all the screws are that need to come out to remove the upper dash pad on a 69? I got the obvious ones, but it doesn't budge.

I need to pull the pad off to get access to the headlight switch wiring.

THANK YOU! :crazy

ernie, on my 74 i have three on each half of the lower dash faces. then it lifts and pull out. there are several clip near the windshield. i hope this helps

Robins right, also to get to the headlight switch you can just remove the ones from the driverside and remove the ones from the drivers side pad and pull it back. The top pad is a pita to remove ,you will have to bend it a little to get it out due to the side ws posts.

paintdaddy's right too. i also forgot, if you remove the t-shaped trim peice under the steeing wheel that will help when moving the gauge cluster.

If you 69 is like my 70. Remove the three screws across the top side of the drivers side front panel and the two along the door trim. Lower the steering wheel by removing the two bolts holding the steering colum to the dash and lower the steering wheel. You then can pull the tach, speedo panel out far enough to get at the light switch.

The bolt-to-the-bracket underneath and in the right-middle is usually the hard one. But I could not just "slide" the dash cover off. I took out the speakers while I could lift it a little then I had to raise one end as far up the pillar as possible and with a little twisting it came out.

I did mine last Winter. 8 screws across the front in the two dash pads and center console, remove the right side lower pad which is 3 more screws by the door frame, some ductwork and other stuff to pull off, then the center screw that holds the pad down and finally the windshield trim. Twist a little and it comes right out.

Kennels - your approach worked great. Thanks to everyone for the feedback, I appreciate it.

kennels, do you think that would give enough access for the ignition switch down on the column?

hey an honest answer is better than silence.

drop the column by removing the trim from underneath the column there are two 3/8 (or so)bolts which hold the coulmn in place, if this does not allow the column to drop down enough there are two or three 5/16 bolts where the column bolts to the firewall you can loosen to drop it down some more. That should do it for you.

Craig thank you ( once again) i beleive i have an intermitten switch problem. so might as well replace the 30 yr old switch,
