Hey Remo,
That's the "Pull Key and Wait 10 Sec message".
He's got something in the steering decoder or position sensor to get the "Service Steering" message.
Thanks for all the input. I ended up taking her back to my selling dealer, Simon Chevrolet in Woonsocket, R.I. It was covered by my extended warranty. Phew!!!Pete - you are 100% right. My mistake. Naturally anytime I hear anything to do with steering columns on a C5, I immediately think of the steering lock issue. Which I believe has yet to be totally cured.
Redbird1 needs to do what you originally asked him to do. Read your reference thread - pull the codes and go fom there.

Yep! That switch is in the shifter, not on the transmission. Pull the console, and you will see it as it engages in park and neutral. Thanks for all the input. I ended up taking her back to my selling dealer, Simon Chevrolet in Woonsocket, R.I. It was covered by my extended warranty. Phew!!!
Now I have another issue. I also have a 1987 coupe with auto trans. Intermittently, espcially when cold, it will not start. After I "row" the gearshift down to 1 and then back to P, it will start and then will be fine for a week. Then it starts all over again. Possible neutral safety switch?
Again, thanks for the input.
