Holley Electric Fuel Pump

I use an expensive billet inline filter between the "new" gastank and "new" sender and the Holley pump.

The 90-day warranty is over. $CA200.00 down the drain.

Yeah, aftermarket parts are hit and miss. I had a Holley electric fuel pump fail me back in 1986 after about 6 months. The motor went bad, got a new one and it lasted until I sold the car in 1988.

It seems the more "speed" parts you use on your car, the more problems you have, but I don't think any of us want to go back to stock most of the time.

Have you taken it apart to try and determine what went wrong? (Motor burned out, mechanical part failure...)

I'm also glad it didn't fail on you during your road trip.

Doug

If I may make a suggestion ... The 502 does not require the GPH that the Holley puts out. The Carter electric is what I'm using.. Here is a link that lists some of the carters.

I'm using the 7-9 psi model. There are larger models listed....

Also I will Fourm email you an Xcell Program for fuel consumption . you can plug in the numbers and it will give you the GPH needed for your application. Look for it in a min..

VNV is right. I have used many Carter electric pumps in the past years with very good success rate.

Take care,
Brian

Ok....It's easer to post it here.. and link to my Hosting Site. It's a Microsoft Xcel program which means you'll need excel to use it.

Ok...To Use..type in at the top in the green left column(A)..Max RPM..To The Right of that in the(B) greeen column.....the C.I.D. of the Motor....Then click on the blue column (C)...which will give you Raw CFM...

When you click on the Blue Colum at the Top (C).. the lower numbers will change showing the data needed for fuel flow..from this you can select your pump size.

This Excel Document was put together by Mr. Bill Bradley..Thanks Bill

let me look around my garage I have a Carter brand pump somewhere that should be enough with 0 miles on it,

this one

I am very sorry to read this. Wish I had enough technical knowledge to recommend a more dependable product. That is rotten luck.

I don't blame you for being totally POed ! It just seems like everything is junk these days . Designed to minimum specs to just barely work long enough to exceed any replacement liability . Companies don't seem to care about their names anymore . Cliff

Bob 90 days from purchase? or when you first fired the motor. I would suggest contacting holley directly.Normally the higher you get in a company the more responcive they are to satisfing a customers needs

I am sure you installed is the manufacturer suggested. And regaurless of the 90 day warrenty I would have to say if this part failed in less then 90 days of use (ntice I said USE)with only 917 miles on it,for sure it has to have a defect in material or workman ship.

As always, a short story.I promise to my customers 100% satisfaction (no questions asked) and a customer was in the process of building a large home.I purchased a special peice of equiptment for there home.we installed it roughly 14 months ago.they only moved into the home and started to use the product 3 weeks ago and it had a catostrofic failure and needs replacement. I pulled the old one out (installed 14 months ago but only started 3 weeks ago so its actually brand new right?) anyways I nstalled a new one and the distibutor refused my warrenty request saying its over 14 month old. I explained when it was started and the distibutor then explained rules are rules.

I contacted the manufacturer and explained what happens and they explained warrenty are dealt with on the distributor side again rules are rules what they say go.

Well I have a web site for work and we have an area called the back room that is a cookie cutter area I can simply on line set up a private web page then privately invite folks to.Well i documented the entire events of what failed, why it failed How I corrected it copies of the invoice showing purchase date copy of our start up sheet showing tempitures and pressures needless to say all of the information was on the site,Not once slamming the company just explaining the failure and why I dont recomend using the product in the future to other folks.

I then went on line to the manufacturers web site and found an email adress for a fellow in the companys marketing area and emailed him a link to my page .(this page was never puplished to the general puplic) asking to restore my faith in the product and the company. Needless to say the following day he contaced me and made me whole again with the product.I never threatened I just spoke the facts and it was handled imediatley and honorabley.

You might want to contact holley directly Good luck

I bought a new Holley replacement...........same model. Why? Because of the time and effort put into designing the mounting bracket and all the fittings.

I also bought an Edelbrock pump which I'll take on the trip to CruiseFest....just in case.

I figure if two Holley pumps fail in a row, I'll never use their products again. That's why the Edelbrock.

The replacement is installed and is working..........for now anyway. :mad

Bob,
Sorry to hear of the setback, but glad to hear you are soon to be terrorising the streets again.

Doug

Doug,

I haven't taken it apart yet, but I can tell you it is likely a burned out motor or internal electrical failure. It was getting 12 volts, but "no noise" was forthcoming.

After removing it, I bench-tested it. Same result......dead.

Thanks Larry. That's exactly what I'll do........after Bowling Green. I'll let you know the results.

Best of luck!

Bring as many facts to the table as possible and then stick to the facts and dont threaten, just share your disapointment with the product, and the customer service you have gotton so far. Also dont use Vulgarity no matter how angry you are it just takes the wind right out of your sails
