Dead Fuel Pump

Bob,

I'm not sure if he is the right guy to speak with, but I spoke with an Eric Morton, Director of Quality when I was having header issues. He may be on the Hooker side, but ya never know. He would prob know who to speak with at the very least.

There is the Holley tour to discuss quality products with em!

TOO FUNNEY

If there is such thing as a holley tour?

I am sure the first thing they check for is a fire exstinguser, and to make sure there are enough tow truck to allow all the cars to make it to the end of the tour.

Bob
that sucks about your fuel pump but as mentioned, at least it did it now and not on the cruise to BG - that would REALLY have been bad.
I wouldn't normally suggest such a thing as it's not the most honest, BUT in your case I have to agree with Vintage. Buy a new one and a few days later return your bad one with the new receipt. We all know you have practically no use (less than a 1000 miles) on the bad one so it SHOULD be replaced anyway.

I guess it could have been worse. It could have happened on I-75 on the way to Bowling Green.

:mad

AH-HA, my devious plan is working. You see I put the VOO-DOO hex on the fuel pump so MISS UNIVERSE will have to ride with me to BG. What time shall I pick her up??:D

Randy;)

PS: Actually I can't go this year but it was a good plan!!! Sorry to hear that Holley Quality control has let another one get by them.

Sounds like Holly QC has gone the same way as Hooker’s did. The last set of Hooker headers that I bought will be the LAST set of Hooker’s that I ever buy. Lousy fit, no customer support and they are rusting after only one year.:mad

If you want a quality product today where do you go?

I suspect the new one will fail as well. Most electric pumps (external) are for backup only. I would put a GM pump on it & be done.

How do I install a GM mechanical pump on a 502? :confused

I don't think you can. I have a Carter on my 52 and it was still running fine when I parked it. Don't all the OEMs use an in tank pump when going electric?
You may want to consider an in tank pump for next winters project, one designed for a TBI at 12 lbs should do the trick.

Drjohn works at Holley down in BG. Maybe he can help. If you got room you should bring the failed pump with you to BG. :)
