I have the information for RFC's trim tag except I am not sure what they mean when they are asking for the Body Style - It is a letter and four digits - I know the letter is an S because it was built in St. Louis - however, I need help understanding what the Body Style means? The car is a convertible. This is RFC's girlfriend and I am getting his Trim Tag remade for the car since the original one is missing.
Can Someone Help Me Out Here?

I would really appreciate it.
Thanks Angel

Here's a typical trim tag - this one's for a '66 convertible with an A.O. Smith body. The date built code (B28) is at the top, and the "style" is directly below it; "66" is the model year, and "467" is the style code for a convertible (a coupe would be "437"). The "STD" next to "TRIM" means black vinyl. On the right side, the "S1402" means an A.O. Smith-built body, the 1402nd '66 convertible body they built, and the paint code is below the body number. There are a number of subtleties involved in how trim tags were originally coded and stamped, and reproductions are now easily detected in judging (which disqualifies the car from being judged, if that's in your plan).

Dear John...
Thank you for your reply on the decoding of the Trim Tag...I think I almost understand...I noticed that the production numbers for each year all start at 100,000. The last six digits of my Vin are
120279...So...Is the number I am looking for 0279 or 20279...or
does it go by the number of cars produced in the month my car
was produced?
This is the last piece of the puzzle for the trim tag information I
need...I really appreciate your help.
Thank You.

Dear Don...
Thank You for the Site...That is Pretty Neat...We found a date stamp of April 7, 1966 on the back of our clock...I have all the information about the car for a trim tag replacement except for the Body Information...The last 6 digits are 120279...I know the car is a St. Louis Car...so it starts with an S...However what I am not sure of is...Should it be S0279/S20279 or do I have to figure out from the numbers of cars produced in April where my car fell in line in the number of cars produced? As I told John earlier this is the last piece of the puzzle that I need...and I would really appreciate any help I can get on getting this information.
Thanks!

You'll have to extrapolate the number based on the following:

St. Louis and A.O. Smith both numbered their bodies the same way, except for the "A" or "S" in front of it, with one sequence for coupes and another for convertibles, both of which started with "0" (so there could be a St. Louis body and an A.O. Smith body with the same body number, except for the prefix).

There were 27,000 66's built - 18,000 convertibles, and 9,000 coupes.

Half of them (both styles) were built by St. Louis, and half by A.O. Smith.

By April 26th, 20,279 finished cars were built.

By April 26th, St. Louis had built the bodies for 10, 150 of them.

Using the 2:1 ratio, by April 26th, St. Louis had built 3,383 coupe bodies and 6,767 convertible bodies, at 120 total bodies per day (80 convertibles, 40 coupes).

St. Louis bodies were built one to two days before the car actually came off the line, so your body was built either on Friday the 22nd or Monday the 25th (H22 or H25), and would have an "S" body number between 3303 and 3343 if it's a coupe, or between 6607 and 6687 if it's a convertible.
