Ok, I have what appears to be a standard Delco Radio w/Cassette Player. The radio works, ahhh, lets say ok! The light in the face is awfully dim. As a matter of fact at night I can't read the time or station on it's face. Is this normal? Is there more than one light in the digital display of the radio?

My first Vette and everything is new so feel free to assume that I know nothing, because it is so.

Tnx, Sam

Nope, not normal. I had the same one in my '96. White letters and numbers, right?

You can get it fixed, or if you want to buy mine let me know. You can replace it with a vette Bose cd/cassette head that plugs right in.

Aftermarket is an option for you. To go Bose stock speakers and head would be $$$$$$$$.

The Delco speakers are quite sorry paper cone. You really have a bunch of options.

more radio light

If by "White letters and numbers" you mean on the faceplate yes. The actual window displaying the station or clock is a sick yellow with black letters. Is this the normal color? Is it supposed to be visable at night? How many lights (internal) are there supposed to be?

Tnx Sam

The window is yellow LCD and the numerals should be easy to see day or night. All the buttons are backlit at night. Brightness is controlled by the interior/dash dimmer around the headlight switch.

The system was anemic in my opinion. 12 watts /channel with the cheapest speakers on earth. No CD.

I considered Delco Bose retrofit but the speakers are powered, needing re-wiring, the amp, head and amped speakers are very expensive and prone to problems.

Aftermarket JVC with Boston Acoustics got her rockin'. You could replace speakers and head and put an amp in there for stock look. I suggest a trip to your favorite car audio store and let them pimp your ride.

After all that effort I just roll down the windows and listen to the music from the exhaust.
