Demon key out - what not to do

Ok, I installed my hurst shifter and put it back in with the stock knob. It rattled, so I bought the MGW knob and also installed the PVC mod too. Rattle is now gone. The problem is that i snapped of the top of the demon key. I could not grip it with vice grips.

Here are some pictures of the mess. I had to drill to get out the key. Here are 5 pictures (max) in one post, so I will try to post a reply too with more.

As you can see I drilled then screwed a screw into the hole. I used the vice grips to"hit" it up. Key came right out.

Also thanks to my girlfriend and proud new Buffalo Jill for letting me using her digital camera to document my errors... Hopefully this will help out someone
