Working on my 84 digital dash, Trying to pinpoint problem. I am testing the 2 plugs to the dash, with the dash out I installed test lingt to bat. (ground ) to make sure I have a good ground then I pluged the + end into the power source plugs one by one . In the big 32 point harness the test light went on with the ignition on. But in the small harness EVERYTHING seems to be dead, No light on any of the points. Now I tested all fuses in fuse box, good. Is there a nother spot from the small plug to the fuse box I can look. Any help would be great. By the way I have read all the web sites on the Digital dash but nothing on this

As you can see in the scan below...the harness needs to be connected to the cluter in order to test.

Take it out and send it in for repair.....you'll go nut's trying to find the problem....much easier to send it to Mid America or any of the other company's than driving your self crazy.....been there, done that!!!!!!!!!!!

The problem is ,1984, dash lights up but nothing works except the bright indacator and the right turn sig. not the left, when the left turn sig is turned on the lights in the dash dim with each flash. Because my wiring is so butchered I want to make sure its the dash before I sent it in. Thank you

Send it to me!!!!

Send me an E-mail.

I have built an entire C-4 car emulator for my workbench I can test ALL functions ( including cruise) about a 1 week turn around $175.00-250.00 to repair. If it's just bulbs a little cheaper.

Digital Dash Repairs

Don't knock yourself out. Sometimes, the problems with digital dashes will drive an electronics engineer to suicide. What I did with my 1987 Coupe's dash: went to a shop and was told the cluster had to be sent for repairs to a Delco factory. The estimates fluctuated between $800 - $1,300, according to the shop owner. So I checked in the Internet and found unitedradio.com. They charged $430 to fix my cluster, which included replacing three burned-out panels, put in new bulbs, and some adjustments, with a 1-year warranty. Turn-around time: I sent the cluster a Thursday morning (from Puerto Rico), on Friday I had an estimate and gave them the go-ahead and credit card information. Next Monday at 5pm my cluster was delivered by UPS. Try e-mailing them for more info. Good luck.:BOW

Vig,
you can check cruise? do you need the servo? and that's it?

Turns out I got F'd, Just got the car with the dash out . After checking around and with all the help here, I see my dash has all 3 units out. LCD all 3 burned out, I'm sure the seller changed the LCD units before sale. Live + learn.

I need A used Dig. Dash with cruse + it should be a 4spd,w 3spd od. Like 6600 made in 84. This is a builder car for me, do not have big $ to put in. I can do almost anything but I can't put the Liq. cry. back in the LCD. Thanks Again all of you for the help.

check some of the salavage yards for them. gota be cheaper than new.
check the portal.

I think I have some 84 glass

What do yyou need... all 3?

Give these guys a call, they'll talk to you

I got an info center from this place. The whole thing cost <1/2 what the dealer wanted for the push-button panel (My '95 was missing a reset button).
A local corvette repainter specialist (and C5 owner) put me onto them.

When you say "cooked out"

What do you mean?

If the glass isnt cracked.. it will probably still work.. ( might not be the BEST looking display)

But will function..

I have the speedo & center glass.

Send me your dash...I 'll fix it.

Silver 80.. to answer you question
I have 2 servos here.. but I would reccomend sending the one with the car...

Vig, I was told if you can see through the glass and read everything in the glass that the LC has been boiled or cooked out of the glass. You should not be able to see the colar display when not powered up ,on mine you can see completely through the LCD glass. Thats why I say its cooked out. I'm learning as I go along.

Not 100% true

I can see thru my known good loose pieces, more like shades.. then clear.. it's when you power the LCD UP is when it goes BLACK.. so your glass MIGHT still be OK!

Think of your LCD watch...

In the case of the Vette display.. the segments you want to have light go thru..you turn OFF!

Have you taken the dash apart?

Vig!

yes I have taken this thing apart many times. I do have a line on a dash for $200.00 but its from an auto not a standard trans. The overdrive is in the solid state unit not the dash. I think this is the best deal I have found. Thanks again.

The overdrive

in the dash is just an indicator.. not part of the actual circut.. on I forgot.. on an 85 or later auto dash.. you also have the Upshift for best economy light + the arrow..if you forgot what direction UP was
