I was driving home today and got stuck in a little rainstorm, I didnt want to turn on the AC, so I was messing around with the climate control trying to get something like a vent that would not turn the compressor on just the blower to get air from outside into the car with no success. Is there a way to do this or is it all or nothing? Thanks
The User Manual for my 95 Corvette says that the car's flow through ventilation system supplies outside air into the vehicle when the car is moving... Sounds like this is a default although I have not sensed it (my A.C. is always on...). How about first pressing the "OFF" button and then "UP ARROW" of the fan (to the right of where is says "AUTO" with a fan picture)???
I really dont know what I am saying, but please let us know when you find out.
With the Automatic Climate Control off, engine running, push the button with the pictogram of a human sitting and the arrow (airflow) pointing to its head. This will turn ONLY the interior fan on.
You can now turn the temperature up/down and/or the fan speed to your liking.
You must turn the system off first, then push the button with the right pictorgram, then adjust temp/fanspeed. Doing this in any other order will turn on your A/C compressor as the system will assume you want autotmatic control.

My Climate Control does not have this, it is a 87. If I knew how to put a picture into my post i could take a picture of it and add it in but I do not know how.
Okay. But your climate control switches MUST have a button with a pictogram of a human sitting down and an arrow pointing to its head. All climate controls have this pictogram, even manual vent controls have it. This is the button you push. Then, just turn up the fan speed if that is what you have as well.
To post a pic, you have to have the pic in your computer's hard drive with a file extension as "jpeg" or "bmp". Then, you simply "attach" it to your post using the "Attach File" options below the message box while you're posting. Easier shown than explained!
I just checked the controls on my car. I didn't have the option for the digital climate control, so I have the manual ones. I do not have the picture of a guy and an arrow pointing to his head. I dont have any pictures on the controls. It mush have been changed in a later year, or perhaps when the body clips changed.
Now you're getting close. The software for this message board has a maximum allowable size of 83 kb for pictures. So, you need to resize your picture.
Here's how: While you are viewing your picture using your software picture viewer (whatever that may be), you can resize your picture. It's probably up in the menu under "Image". Click on that menu item and "Resize" should be one of the options. Click on "Resize" and shrink your picture down to about 600x600 pixels or something close. Then rename the picture and save it to your desktop. Then try uploading it again.
If that don't work, just email me the pic: rogue_biker@cox.net and I'll do it for you.

On my 96 I believe you can also get air without the a/c with the "arrow to the feet" button, as you have described above. All the other choices seem to engage a/c.

Which my climate control does not have, the closest it has to that is Bi-Level which shoots it out of the top and the bottom. Anybody out there with my style climate control able to turn on just the fan and not the A/C, or does my climate control just stink lol :cry .
Oh wow! That is an interesting climate control system.
Let's see:
The only button I can assume to just bring in outside air is the "ECON" button.
"AUTO" is obviously the autmatic climate control which will cycle your compressor. "BI-LEVEL" will bring in cool air from your top vents and warm air to your foot vents and will most likely cycle your compressor. "HTR" is heat. Then the Defrost pictogram button is to redirect air to your windshield and will also cycle your compressor.
Yup. It has to be the "ECON" button.
Start engine. Turn climate control to "OFF". Then, push the "ECON" button. Adjust fan speed using the up/down arrow. Set temp to coolest temperature. 60 sounds good. Don't push on any of the "AUTO" buttons.
Try that and see if it works. I'm interested if it does.
I will try it tomorrow morning. With gas prices up around 2 a gallon which is not bad considering other places. I cant afford to waste more then needed. Thanks
