Digital Dash Repair

VIG! I never droped my column! I just worked the tilt up and down to remove the screws and then hyperextended down while I pulled it out...It came out fairly easy!

Also the pad you guys have for your knees (Drivers side) I have removed mine because of my height LOL when I order my new carpet Im going to manufactuer a custom one thats smaller.

Even Gordon's book tells you that all you have to do is lift the dash pad slightly to make enough room to get it (the cluster) out. Having three hands could help, but... ;)

Well you can do it that way

But it takes a bit of flexing of things... I like dropping the column better... but to each their own.

Hi all

As to the dash color change.........I guess I'm Gonna have to start labeling all our photos since it would help everyone find out how the dash color is changed!(The photo Red posted was from our site but he may not even know that..... the way stuff gets around the web!)

The easiest way to change the color is the same way the factory did......its just basicly paint on a white filter. I experimented with lens repair tape and settled on colored transparency film....with the many colors and a pair of scissors.......who really needs a shop?

At our site........Look Under "Customised" DigitalDash and Digital Dash Guts for more info!!

Hi red,
Hey man Relax! No need to apologise 4 using the pic! Thats what its there 4!!!! Anyway....You actually did have permission like our site says! You're not using it commercially so... more power 2 U! :)

I was just hitting myself over the head 4 not thinking of putting the site address on....The site was developed as a response to us getting tired of seeing the same questions over and over on message boards. We just want people to easily find info quickly. It gets frustrating when you realise a different/better way to do something and people cant find it easily!

As to your dash problem itself.......I've never needed to do and dissasembly or soldering yet (knock on wood) so I dont know how to best get that connection off.

However I did experience a similar problem from overtightening the many screws. I backed them off slightly and havent had any probs since (again with the knocking on wood...man owning a Vette makes u superstitious!)
I also thought that my connector that is causing you probs fitted a little loosely. I added a little Dialectic tune up grease to insure the pins were contacting the receivers well. But dont know if it really made a difference.

If anyone ends up doing the soldering and can get a few pics and/0r want to explain the process I can post whatever you do to the site (credit and link to wherever u want)

In any event...:w
