Discontinued parts

You may have been able to get a electronic key fob at some dealer who has old stock but when I checked last year they were not listed in the parts book as available.

Yep, that’s exactly right! I’ve been finding that large dealers that have a high volume of Corvette sales seem to have a halfway decent selection of NOS C4 parts. These “no longer” available parts are becoming harder and harder to find. I’ve struck out many times looking for a specific part though.

Coupe fobs (2 button) #10282929 are still in the system. The Vert (1 button) #10282930 are not available at any dealership.

Obsolete parts

This would be a good idea. Most dealers don't keep an abundance of parts for models over five years. Corvette is somewhat different as they don't drastically change parts and there is a good aftermarket supply.

I am rebuilding a 1984. I have found most of the parts at CarQuest or NAPA. Very reliable sources and they use the OEM manufactures as their suppliers. So far I have found only one part that I had a problem researching.

Also both offer a very good interchange from the GM part number to the aftermarket part number. They might be a source for a format and information for the database.
