A stupid question..... is the distributor and the opti spark the same thing? I am in the process of replacing the water pump (see my other post) and thought about replacing the opti spark and/or distributor. So before I go costing out all of the above thought I should be educated.

That is the distributor on the LT1/4 engine. Shop around, as you will find a wide range of prices even from Chevy dealer to chevy dealer.

It comes as a unit although you can buy just the cap/cover and rotor. I have done it both ways and find it best to just replace the whole unit.
