I have a 73 vette.

VIN # = 1Z37J3S433790
Engine block = 3970014
Carb = 7043202

Door plate
Trim = 418
Paint = 953
Cheverolet L24

Sticker on our side drivers door
GVWR 4010 GAWR FRT 1917 Rear 2093

I think this car is all original but want to make sure. Can someone check me on this?

I'm not "up" on these things but the engine number you need for your question is located on the stamp pad in front of the passenger side head and is a "stamped" number not a cast number, the number you posted is the casting number. Welcome to CAC someone will answer your question soon.

numbers matching

The numbers stamped into the engine block will be the same as a portion of the VIN # if the block is original

An 0014 block casting number is unusual for a late '73 Corvette, but you've not provided anywhere near enough info about your car to say one way or the other.

Quick question- what does the term 'matching numbers' mean to you?
