Does any one know a good place around Baltimore for clutch problems?

I am having some weird clutch problems that NEED to be delt with. Its a five month old clutch (driven easy...for a vette). Some times when I drive, with it in or out of gear, it will grind a little bit for no reason! Also, quite often its hard to get into, or out of, gear. So I am hoping its not the tranny, and I would like to know of a good place to take it around the Baltimore area to fix it.

Thankx

It's a bit south of Baltimore, but Sothpaw and I both like P&G Auto (410.766.0074, ask for Paul). He's not Vette-only, but has worked on them for years and is well-loved and trusted by his customers. He's on Furnace Branch Road in Pasadena, maybe 10 miles south of the city.

The only place that I am familiar with up that way is Tony's Corvette Shop. They have an excellent reputation from what I've heard. They are located in Gaithersburg.

I second the motion to try Paul at P&G. He is a straight shooter.

2 good vette mechs in Bel Air(10 min south of Aberdeen). Gallant's Auto on Atwood Rd. in Bel Air and also a good vette mech at Bob Bell Chev on Bel Air Rd. Good Luck, Guy

Thanks for the phone number, I'll give him a call!

Vette guy,
Thanks for the info. That's in my back yard, might be
convenient some day.

Glad to know an LT4 owner near me.

Hey Sothpaw, are you down on Rt.7 near Whitemarsh? We should hook up sometime when the weather is nicer. Guy

I went to Paul at P and G...he did a rotten job, he put in a new clutch and that did not fix the problem!!! When I told him that I didn't think it was fixed he gave me attitude! I will never trust him with my cars again. And to make a long story short I couldn't afford the neccesary repairs so I had to sell my Vette!!! No hard feeling towards you guys of course, I just wish I hadn't thrown away $700 for a clutch that I didn't need. oh well.

what to say

Don't know what to say to that...I'm sorry you had that experience.

The only time I've seen him not fix a car was a 98 Camaro, and that
was because he did not have the right specialized tool. And in that case,
he sent the customer away for no charge.

He gave you attitude? Well, if that's the case, that will be bad for business.

Well... did you TELL him to replace the clutch, or did you TELL him "The car grinds going into gear" and HE replaced the clutch on his own? I've had him do some work for me where I said the problem was X and he just did the work... and no, it didn't fix the problem (once he suggested what MIGHT fix it, and it did, and for a fraction of what I'd just paid him...).

When low-paid teachers take their cars to him, I figure he's a good mechanic...
