..... pictures of 1973 grills?
According to the Powers That Be, 1973 grills were made of potmetal which was first chromed (shiny on the leading edges only) and then painted black. 1974 grills were exactly the same, except they painted completely black.
When I removed my grills, they were painted black, but the paint was flaking off. The leading edges showed no signs of chrome but when I glassbeaded the grills in preparation for paint, it was evident the grills were chromed. The metal appeared to be aluminum, rather than potmetal. Perhaps there was more aluminum in the pot that day than anything else.
At any rate, I'm preparing my grills to be chromed but I got to thinking..... how much of the leading edge is supposed to be exposed? 1/8"? 1/16"?
If anyone has a good picture (or can take one for me) I would appreciate it!
