Does anyone know what this acronym means?

In the radiator removal section I see where it says to remove the A.I.R. pump assembly. Does anyone know what A.I.R. stands for? I have looked and looked to no avail.

Thanks

HI there,
Air Injection Reaction pump.
This is refering to the pump forcing air into the exhaust stream, to force a burning reaction for hydrocarbon emissions.

I tried in vain to locate that Air Injection Reaction Pump in the index of my FSM but could not find it. Could it be under a different name? In order to remove the radiator on my 94 LT1 it says to remove that A.I.R. pump but nowhere does it show where it is or anything. Any other advice?

Hi there,
This is mounted to the drivers side frame rail, next to the radiator.
Here is the pic.

Great, thanks a lot. Now, do I really have to remove it to remove the radiator or is the FSM being overly cautious?

I will remove it then. Thanks for your helpful advice. I really appreciate it.
