Getting my yellow 06 coupe in about 2 weeks. Putting chrome wheels on it.

Was thinking about painting the calipers red. It seems like about everybody likes painted calipers. But, is this true? Does EVERYBODY really think the painted calipers ADD to the looks? (The wheels will be off for the chrome swap so that would be a good time to do it if I'm going to.)

Can't decide. Would appreciate feedback.

Hi Big Jimm -

No. Everyone does not like painted calipers.

I think a LOT of people like them.

You will not find very many mods (if any) that everyone will approve of.

Your opinion is the only one that matters though - do YOU like painted calipers?

best regards -

Yes, very opinion oriented like mqqn stated. I personally like the painted look.

As for your calipers, it is definitely up to you. Your yellow 06 would look nice with 3 possible caliper colors, maybe? Red - Bold and stands out from the yellow (Black or no paint on the "CORVETTE" lettering). Yellow - to match the car (I think black "CORVETTE" lettering would be optimal here). Black - Subtle, but still allows the no paint "CORVETTE" lettering to standout.

For my '92, I will be doing red calipers with black lettering eventually. My current front calipers don't have the "CORVETTE" lettering, so I will be buying the '96 GS calipers.

I like painted calipers. Red ones are always popular, but now you've got me wondering what yellow ones would look like.... hmmm, anyone have any pics? That might look pretty good.

Ask, and ye shall receive!! Found some pictures at corvettemikes.com...They are showing it on a white C5 instead of yellow, though:

I have a couple of the paint kits and will eventually get around to doing the calipers on my MY coupe red! The photos and stuff are very helpful. Thanks guys.:D

Stearnman, those yellow calipers on a yellow vette look excellent. Now I have another item on the list for when the cash begins to flow again.

Brake Caliper Paint

I also have a 06 Yellow coupe that will be here in about one week, it was built last week is all I know. I am installing a set of factory wheels that have been chromed by Genes Plating. During the wheel change I am painting the calipers Red with a Brake Caliper Paint Kit from Duplicolor. Another brand that is similar is a kit by a company called G2. These use a brush application method, not a spray on. Will just have to take your time to make it look right.

The only problem with either of the kits is the fact that you can't drive the car for 24 hours while the paint dries. My local Goodyear dealer is allowing me to leave the car overnight on his rack.

Does everybody take the wheels off to paint the calipers, or do some paint them thru the spokes?

I don't care for painted calipers, I think they look ridiculous. But if you're happy with them, that's all that matters.
