Here we go again... After Market Stuff. This is the new Parking Brake Assemble I bought from Ecklers. Just the cables ..not the lever..They do look well made and seem to fit ok.

I wasn't with the chassis when the boys tore in to it removeing all the hardware and such. So I have mounted the parking brake lever according to the AIM. It's the only way it will fit and move correctly. Let me know if it looks correct to you.

There is a rough adjustment on the PB Cables and they are only set so that the cables don't rub on the crossmember. This enables me to operate the PB meck.

Now ..look at the pic's...doesn't it seem to you that the cable is just a little to close to the drive shaft yoke??? The yoke is in an approx position ..but when you pull on the cable it just seems a little to scary and close to me.

Can you imagine ..what would happen if the yoke grabed that cable and started twisting it around..!!!!!!!!! I can Picture the Firewall being ripped out of the car......Yikes..!!!!

One pic is open...the rest please click on. (Don't want to waste Forum Server Space)

Mark, Mine does not appear to be that close. You think it might have something to do with the transmission output yoke? I think the one you have in there for the 5 speed may be a bit larger than the original.

Did you try to mount the pivot arm under the tab on the crossmember instead of on top of it? May give you a little more clearance.

Yeah...It is a larger yoke..It's the new Cap Bolt Type Keisler has available as an option. I considered that but it's not that much larger the the stock one Keisler supplies.

I'll give your idea a shot...Sounds like it might work...But you kow what's gonna happen.....One thing effects an other. I wonder what it will be... :beer:L

Apparently the Keisler trannys are longer than a muncie. My yoke, muncie, is straight up from pivot bolt, while yours is inches further rearward which is why it's so close to cable. Thats what I concluded anyway.

Thanks Skids,... Yep the Keisler is a little longer and I think that has a lot to do with it. I'm going to try Subfixer's idea. I got me some spacers and some different bolts to try. I'll see if I can fab up someting to make it work. Sometimes I feel like I'm doing and episoide of "American Hot Rod"...If it don't fit....Chrome It...!!:L

With the bigger yoke, for the 5-speed output shaft, and the fabrication of the new rear transmission mount, I found it lightly scraping the underside of the tunnel after dropping the body on.

We spent a number of hours measuring and re-welding (lowering) the modified mount to get the best possible clearance for the tunnel and for shifter-height up through the large hole.

All worked out, but it took time and patience. Start thinking about tunnel clearance, Mark.

Thanks Bob,

The Keisler has been in the car and I never had a tunnel problem..or a Yoke problem. The orignal yoke is almost the same size. It's a Combo yoke..or the yoke side is bigger then the drive shaft side. The orignal keisler yoke did not have the bolt on caps...that's where the size difference is. It's only slightly larger in the cap area. It should clear the tunnel...and it does clear the PB cable. But I'm going to try and squeak a little more clearence out if I can.

Your using the Richmond Tranny I think....which is a bit larger in the tunnel area. Correct me here if I'm wrong. The keisler tucks up nice and sweet up against the foil insulation under the tunnel...not to much of a fitment prob.

So ..I'll play around some more and make it work.. That's the fun... Fabing up stuff....That's what this hobby is all about. But it's important to have people like yourself and the Fourm to help out. And Of course Bill And Mike.. My Secret Corvette Engnieers.....

That's how we keep our heads on straight..... :beer
