Hi Eric

Also let me know if you are disconnecting your battery? Also the sensor is different on mine then yours. it changed l believe in 01.

Also l was told to be carefull of the MAF and to use a lube when reconnecting the bellows.

Read this thread again there are two different intruction offered one better then the other.

Mine is only going to be sent out next week.

Good Luck

Alan
Alan,

I used the same instructions as Guy, here's the link. Once I cleaned mine the install took just over 25 minutes. And yes, I used a lube on all of the rubber that needed to be reconnected. I sprayed silicone on a cloth and wiped the part that needed to be slid somewhere. I did this on the bellows and the grommets (the ones connecting the airbridge to the radiator cover and the ones connecting the blackwing to the front of the car.

My one piece of advise to save you from the one thing that did frustrate me is this. Remove the grommets from the radiator shround and the front of the car and attach them to the blackwing and airbridge. It's easier to slide the grommets onto their posts with the hardware attached than it is to slide the hardware onto the grommets if they're still on the posts.

By the way, it's nice to hear my car breathe now:D! Bowling Green, here I come.

Good luck Alan!

Hey Alan,

It's official after over 1400 miles with my Blackwing - RICKS!!!!

Evilvett took it out with me at shotgun and the look on his face when it broke loose when he punched it at 20 and again at 50 was priceless.

The performance change is indeed measurable but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Last year I got 26.2 MPG going to BG and 27.3 coming back. This year I got 27.4 going and 29.0 coming back!!! All that with an automatic tranny and performance rear axle.

I know the Bassani X made a difference too but needless to say, she performs greatly now!

Sounds good to me!!

I received the blackwing but it needs to be cleaned so l ordered the kit on line and shold have it by this weekend.

Then l will install it.

While l like the idea of having a 100% stock vette, l decided to add as l go, but nothing that l can't put back to stock.

I have been enjoying the pic's and video's of the Cruisefest and it looks like everybody had a great time.

While l was in Atlanta it also rained a lot so we had to move my grandson's party indoors.

Cleaning kit arrived !

Before l ask a my first question l noticed on the front of the blackwing are two holes at the corners. In the instructions it noted to take off the grommets and put them on the Blackwing to make it easier fine. Since my blackwing came with only one rubber grommet l was concerned that l was missing one. So it's safe to assume that l will wind up with an extra grommet, is that correct?

Now to the cleaning, the instructions notes to spray the entire air filter. Are they talking about both inside and outside? The inside looks almost perfect because it's still blue and the outside l would say is 50% blue.

When l rinse the filter from the inside out l plan to use if my wife isn't home her kitchen sink sprayer.

I can also assume that the plastic (black) case aroud the filter is one piece and doesn't come apart.

I might be asking dumb questions but when you have blown things in the past you tend to remember no question is a dumb question.

Thanks

Alan

Yeah Alan, it sounds as though the guy who sold it to you left one of his original grommets on it for you. As for spraying, I only sprayed the cleaning solution on the outside because mine, like yours, was clean on the inside. I used a nylon brush to get the leaves and such out from the groves on mine.

Ready to install this Friday !!!!!!!

The Blackwing also had the plastic elbow connector still attached.

One last thing, on both sides of the air bridge there are rubber whatevers that hold down the air bridge. I never saw this before, is this just a twist off or a pull off or what. I know it can't be difficult but l would hate to have to make a special trip down to the dealership to pick one up if l blew it.

Thanks

Alan

Hi Warren

Thanks, this Sunday l'm going to my cousin's house and want to make sure l don't blow it.

He has a C6 vert and his brother is getting delivery of his C6 Z-06 in two weeks. He has been waiting since last Sept for it. and he must of paid through his nose for it.

The only thing that l have going for mine is that mine is brand new without a blem both inside and out and he has more miles then mine. He's the lucky one because he is able to drive it every day of the week and l can only drive it on the weekends. That's if it isn't going to rain.
