When I lock my doors from inside the car, it sets the alarm....fine

If I open the passanger's door FIRST everything is ok

If I open the driver's door first, the alarm goes off, and I can only reset it by unlocking the passenger's door....

I am sure it is a sensor of sorts, but....HELP

The wire you are looking for is attached to the driver's door lock cylinder. Mine does it sometimes also if I don't turn the key fully to the right when I unlock it. The switch doesn't 'click' and disarm the alarm.

Good Luck

Thanks for the reply...now at least I know what to look for. Great help

I have been having the same problem with my 86 Vette. It's great to share in the wealth of knowledge that the forum members have. Many thanks for sharing the information.

84 - 86 Alarm

My buddy just bought an 84 and the alarm keeps going off at the most inopportune times. could you please just go over setting and disarming it for us???

Sounds pretty basic, but we're tired of trying to do it by 'trial & error'!!

Thanks a lot!!

Al

When you lock the doors by using the inside power door lock lever it automatically activates the alarm. It is supposed to shut of when opening either door with the key....pretty simple. If the alarm goes off at other times by itself, you surely have some related electrical troubles...time to start wire tracing...ouch! Good luck
