Buddy of mine has this problem.
Any ideas?

I have a 1991 Convertible. I ran the battery down by leaving the console
door open. When I recharged the battery the speakers did not work. The radio appears to change stations and turn the CD's.
Still no sound.

I have found that there is an auxiliary fuse panel that also has a radio
fuse. Do you know where it is and how to get to it. If this is not the
problem, can you help me?

how would draining the battery kill the speakers?

Chicken or egg? The relay shorts internally and drains battery as ALL 4 amps are now drawing current. The relay is now bad and cannot power the speaker amps or the amps overheated and died. More than likely 1 or more amps were not working prior to the dead battery. Either way, as old as this car is, it needs a new relay-and then start from there.
By the way, he does need to check the owners manual to see where the fuses are located for the system and make sure they are operational.
Also, no sound with a weak battery (below 12 volts).
