I have been struck by the dreaded heater core dumping into the passenger foot well syndrom. It's ugly. The good news is that it's 100 degrees in the shade so I don't need no stinkin' heater. I have bypassed it using the "connect it to the T" method and that is working fine. My question is where to get a new heater core. I have read lots of threads talking about buying from Paragon, Doc Rebuild, LIC etc. Anyone have any real opinion on where to get a good one? (In my reading there were lots of "I put in a rebuilt one and had to do it again a week later when it blew" stories)

Thanks in advance for the help.

I'd stick with one of the reputable vendors you mentioned, but regardless where you get it, take it to a radiator shop and have it pressure-tested before you install it - you only want to do that job once. :)

Thanks for the check on this. For all I have learned from you guys ans your experience, it was one of those things I wanted to check on before I wrote the check. As for the Phantom. it was actually only 8 months ago. Think it's the last NAVY F-4 (All you Air Force guys in Floirda don't get your knots up). Two of us in the neighborhood with time in it were allowed to have pictures taken with our cars (both C-2s). Two days after the picture, it was cut up and hauled away. Hated to see the Rhino go. They always brought me home to the boat and for that I was always thankful.

Helluva airplane - I flew F-4B's (no slats, no guns - Navy hand-me-downs) with the 45th TFS out of Cam Ranh Bay in late '64. :)

John - did you know a guy named Chuck "Pappy" Misak? Should have been at Cam Ranh about the same time frame. I followed you by 5 years but on the Kittyhawk and flew J's. Still no guns.

Nope, didn't know him. We added a Vulcan in a detachable centerline pod after a couple of months; not real accurate, but it scared hell out of Charlie and we probably killed most of them with falling brass ;LOL

If your interested in a heater core I have one with new seals. I bought it from Eklers its for a 65 heater only. I have deceided to go with classic air. I will sell it 50% of new plus shipping. Still in the box and plastic. Let me know if your interested.

AHHHHHH!! You know I just (as in this morning) ordered a new core. Dang it! Thank you for the offer.

John - Familiar with the gun pod. Saw it used more than once. Almost as scary as a Genie launch off of a 106.
