Howdy
I recently had a single master cylinder failure on another old car I own while driving, and have decided to forgo the possibility of having that experience in my '64 coupe, which has the stock single with vacuum assist.
I see that there are a lot of kits available which use a '67 dual, non-vacuum assist master cylinder and provide pre-formed brake lines. Does this work on a car set up for vacuum assist if I remove the vacuum servo unit? If not, what kit do you guys recommend? I don't really care if end up with power brakes or not; I just want something that is very easy to install and safer than my current set up.
I guess I should add a couple of more questions. If I use the '67 M/C, such as the one Corvette Brakes sells, will I have hood interference problems if I bolt it to the vacuum servo? If so, if I remove the vacuum server and bolt the new M/C to the firewall, will I have to use a short actuator rod, and which one should I use?
Thanks very much,
Ub
