I have ZZ4 in my '66 coupe. When I pulled back into the garage today I noticed some sort of "cap or plug" on the floor beneath where the car had been. When I popped the hood I noticed it had come from the top of the driver side of the engine block. I have two "cap/plug" there. This was a round one closer to the firewall. It was all oily. What the heck is that? It fit back in the hole but there are no threads to tighten it down. It just pushes in and can easily be pulled out. Is this an issue? The car drove great while I had it out. As you can tell, I don't do a lot of work on the car myself :-). Thanks

Is this an oil fill plug from the valve cover? If you are concerned maybe you could post a picture of it and I'm sure there are plenty of people here who could identify it for you.

The ZZ4 comes with all kinds of capplugs in the manifold.(see pic)

Is it possible that one of them needs a threaded plug to fill a threaded fitting hole that was not missed when it was installed? There are extra holes for vacumm fittings, breather vents,Ect. Maybe your installer just missed one of them.

It was the oil fill cap. For some reason, it popped off when I revved the engine. It just fits in the opening with no treads or way to secure it.

That's strange.

Do you have a PCV valve that is malfunctioning or something?
The crankcase shouldn't have enough positive pressure to blow a plug out.

Plug lays in there pretty loose. The night before I was showing off the noise from the new side pipes and revving up the engine. Possibly the vibration was enough to jar it loose. I need to figure out how to seat it a little tighter.
