Question: E4ME Mixture solenoid connector color??

Been thinking about getting a replacment E4ME carb and all the ones I have found have a blue mixture control solenoid connector whereas the stock ones are black.
I asked one store and was told that there is no difference between the blue and black solenoids.....anyone know if this is correct or not??

So Lanny, What is going on with your carb now? Still getting unmetered fuel from somewhere? Did you change out that brass float?

i have rebuilt a lot of original carbs and have never saw a black connector. i wonder if the ones built by carter used the black connector.

Well...where do I start?....
Upon cold start I have to keep the choke plate open or the engine will stall. VERY rich at start-up...but once choke pulls off...CCC takes over...runs fine. Have connected in the O2 sensor heater wires.
So yes, still getting unmetered fuel and only place I can think of is that the jets are leaking. Not able to see any fuel dripping on the throttle plates though. And no I did not change out the brass float. Guess I should still do that and see if there is a difference. Might just quit on this carb and get another E4ME as there could be an internal problem.

Problem now is the fuel leaking at the carb inlet. Need to get the proper filter, gasket, spring. Only way I can run it now is without a filter. The Fram filter is just too long. Parts on order.

I'd replace that float. The only fatal problem for our carbs is a porous casting, and those are fairly rare. Try the choke set up proceedure, replace the float, take two asprin and call me in the morning!

Thanks for the choke setup procedures. I will replace the float and see what happens before getting into the choke. Going to be a couple of weeks waiting for parts to arrive. Will let you know what happens.
