Hello everyone, I've got a friend that has a 1991 3000GT VR4. he went to the track today and his best time was 13.056 here is the website with his times and a movie http://www.streetdisturbance.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=000385. He keeps trying to get me to go to the track to run my 87 but havent had the time. Now to my question, what easy mods can i do to my vette to get it a little bit faster? Ive already installed Breathless Ram Air, a hypertech thermo master chip, and a Airfoil, does anyone have a clue what i might run with these mods? and I've heard of people porting the plenum and descreening the MAF sensor do these that give any hp and if so how much?

You might be lower than his or not, depending upon a number of variable's. Remember You have an engine which isn't designed to wind way out, 5500 to 6000 rpm then the athsma kicks in.

You might look into acquiring a copy of the Drag Simulator program, can give you a pretty good idea.

I think stock these cars ran what a little over 14??? is this true or not? if it is so ram air and the chip couldnt have reduced it a second could it?

Also what is this drag simulator and how can i get one?

What is that Drag simulator program?

Definitely do the exhaust. It's not only a power improvement, but it's also an audio improvement that you notice. :D

Drag Simulation Program is loaded on a PC, and you put in your parameters, i.e. type of car, engine size, hp, trans, etc... and it comes up a theorhetical et and terminal speed for 1/8 and 1/4 mile drags.....

You can change parameters of what you have for engine to increase hp based on headers, etc...

I've seen it advertised in Hot Rod and other mags.

Not a true ram air system, sorry. If you get ANY gain (;shrug ), it would be at higher speeds, not going to help in your situation.

Vettefan87, there's no way you can beat his ET, but that's not what wins a drag race. It's who gets to the other end first. His reaction times are pitiful, over 1 second almost every time. Leave on the last yellow light (you won't redlight) and you'll be 1/2 second ahead before he leaves the line.

For 15-25 instant horses (and 2/10ths to go with 'em) get a cat-back.

Ken

Torque is what wins drag races and our L98's have a lot of torque. :D

Maybe i am going out on a limb here but what about new gears. I assume you have 2.59's. Nobody here has mentioned it, but for a drag race you could increase your gear ratio. Anybody want to comment on this idea.
