If I were to remove the "Insulator" nuts on the EBCM and take that bracket off and not replace the "Insulator" nuts when putting the bracket back in, as the manual says; what kind of problems might this cause...grounding etc...?

Guess what I should have said is "replace them with new insulator nuts"; I just reinstalled the old ones. Will this cause any continuity problems and kick out active handling messages/codes?

I am not C4C5 Specilaist, but I believe I just recently read in the GM service manual a recommendation to change these when replacing the EBCM. I do not have the manual with me at the moment

HI there,
If there is tightness between the studs on the EBTCM and the rubber, you are fine and you can reuse them.
Is it prefered to replace them, yes, but its NOT absolutely necessary.
Allthebest, c4c5

What if that rubber is gone? As it crumbled away when I pulled that bracket out.

Sounds like it's time for new insulator bolts. You need to protect that EBCM. It is mighty expensive to replace out of warranty.

New owner...
Doc

Always happy to help new owners, Doc. The EBCM, Electronic Brake Control Module, is the electronic part of your ABS system.

If you're curious, you can do a forum search from the tab with the pull down triangle near the top of your screen.

Hey Doc, other than the wheels, yours looks a lot like mine. Only had mine 10 weeks myself. :-)

Mine is a 2001 w/ the A4, both roofs, K&N FIPK intake, Flowmaster mufflers and a few other minor little tweeks. Sure is alot of fun, waited aover 20 years to get one....
Save the wave!

Cool; mines a '99 all stock, both roofs as well. I did install a 25% underdrive Power Bond harmonic balancer, but it needed to be replaced. I have lots of plans, but it will take time since I'm not a rich man. :-(

Like you I waited a long time for mine too; some 20+ years..but at least we have them now.
