ECC button lights?

Can someone tell me if the buttons are supposed to light on ECC?

The buttons on the sound system light up - but not the climate control buttons.

Please be tolerant of the new guy with the dumb questions.

I don't know if this will help but the buttons on my 2000 silverado went out last week. I checked with the chevy dealer and they don't list the bulbs said i would have to replace the control head at 80 bucks wholesale!!! I went to radio shack and found the bulbs for 1.50 each. Solderwd them in and works like a champ. Hope this helps. Charlie

The system works fine. And the indicators above the buttons that tell what is active work fine. But the buttons themselves don't light up. The buttons on the stereo, which are the same size and shape, have an internal light. Any more suggestions appreciated.
