egr solenoid input?

i was looking over my car for some other problems and i was wondering if there is supposed to be a vac. input to the egr solenoid. the wiring harness is hooked up, and there is a line out to the egr valve and one to the front injector housing but there is nothing hooked into the single nipple on the front??

No, there is nothing connected to the front nipple.
That is to allow air back into the EGR when the valve closes.

thats kind of what i thought because there were little pieces of foam on it so i figured it was a little filter or something.
