Is my EGR valve supposed to be oily?

Mine hasn't been oily whenever I've been in there to look at it.

How much oil are we talking about?
Is it generally oily all over, or is it more on one side than another?

Is there oil on the components around it?

I'll snap a pic for you guys when I get home. It is pretty oily. I'm assuming that if it's oily, the oil can drap debris and the valve won't function correctly?

Sorry guys, I meant the PCV. Is that supposed to be oily?

Well the end of it is plugged into the valve cover.

Yeah, but when I changed the PCV on our Yukon, it was no where like the Vette' one. As far as my knowledge, this is the original PCV on the car. I changed it today and I'll see if there's an improvement in ride quality and idle.

If your new PCV improves the ride quailty, I'd like to know about it. I'm willing to try anything to keep my '84 Z51 from lossening more fillings in my teeth.

I'm not able to give an accurate assessment of that yet because we've have some cool temperatures lately. And you know that our cars run so much better when the temps get cool.:D
