When you buy an electric fuel pump safety switch it'll come with 3 terminals; one for the fuel pump, one for the oil pressure, and one for the "R" terminal of the starter solenoid. When my 3-terminal Airtex switch failed I replaced it with a 2-terminal Honeywell switch that only gets energized by the oil pressure. I can't see any reason whatsoever to have the 3rd terminal that gets heated by the "R" terminal of the starter solenoid because oil pressure alone will close the switch. Can any of you think of ANY logical reason why it would have the 3rd terminal for the starter solenoid? And besides that none of the later starter solenoids used with the HEI distributors even have that "R" terminal.
