I would be interested in plans like that. So you are saying to build them from your plans it would be around $500? How much is it to buy a premade kit from a corvette parts supplier?

Ah, that is just it....there is NO premade kit. Yes, you could expect to have $500 in the whole thing.

I thought there were electric headlight conversion kits available...My bad.

Chris,

You could actually farm out the production of the custom pieces and get quantity discounts on the purchased pieces and sell complete kits without this becoming an overwhelming proposition from a time standpoint.

You would need to at least copywrite the plans, if not apply for a patent number on the design. That is about the only way you'd have any legal recourse against knock-offs. But that process can be lengthy and expensive.

You may find out that there are a group of folks that will pay a fair price for your invention, and you will also find an even greater group of people that want something for nothing.

Anyway.....I definitely want to do the conversion, whether I construct it myself from plans, or buy a complete kit.

Thumper,

All good suggestions, and believe me, I am already around that curve so to speak.

Keep your eyes out then in the next couple of weeks. I have to get a pay pal link set up, and it will be offered right here through CAC. It will push the final price to $29.95.

Now, the question is, who will be the first to actually follow through and build a set?

I have another idea in the back of my head that would require extensive amounts of time to prepare and produce. I am thinking of writing a short--"build your own Killer"-book. It would outline a little more detail about my car, my thought process, budget concerns, parts, suppliers, tools, and ideas to help anybody out there that is looking for just a little bit more inspiration to push their project over the top. It would also give me a chance to finally put it all down on paper in a logical order.

This however is on the back burner, as I am already writing a fictional novel called "The key to my Heart" based upon Killer, and an incredible series of events that will make "gone in 60 seconds" look like child's play.

Man, why do I stack so many projects on myself??????

I was going to buy one, but wasn't going to build it just yet. Have replaced some parts and hoses on mine and have everything working good right now. So I was going to buy it now and do it later when this sysyem messes up. I would love to read a book on "killer" and all thats gone into his "rebirth"(looking at some old pictures he looked dead). Good luck and keep us informed.:_rock

Chris,
count me in I would pay the 125 for the brackets and plans.

Chris,

I would be in the running for building the first set, since they're already all apart, and I'm in the process of puttin' everything back together.

My buddy was over last night watching/helping me put the last (for now) finishing touches on all the friggin termite repair on my house!

Anyway, he took an extra set of the mounting brackets with him for a couple of days. He wants to see if he can reproduce them for me. I asked him to see if he can bust off 100 total, or, 50 sets to start. We will see what he digs up.

The idea being--a multi level "do it yourself" kit. One that is pure instructions, and one that includes the main brackets and instructions.

We finally got the kitchen back in one piece...sort of, and I can turn this loose for a day or two.

Going to Orlando the last weekend for the NCRS show was great, but it put me two solid days behind on putting my house back together.

Very, very soon!

Chris,

Are the electical motors an American made part or do you think it is something I could get over here in England ??? I have a 4-axis CNC HAAS milling machine in my workshop so making any brackets would be straight forward for me. If so I would be interested in a set of plans. Maybe I would be able to find some motors from a local supplier that I could use. My headlights have never worked properly since I bought the car.

How much for the European franchise :D :L :L

I'll be the first LT-1 doing it. I own a manufaturing facility in Ohio. I can set thi sup for you and go partners. You'd have to get a patent and then we could mass produce it and sell it through distribution.

definately get a patent before some !@#$ comes surfin through and sees this and ends up selling kits to corvette america or something when you should be getting the recognition, not to mention the money............

I am taking time off work this week to get a head start on the weekend and get the plans/instructions finished up.

I have a much greater respect now for those people that write assembly instructions for just about anything.

This is my first crack at doing this, and your feedback will be welcome. Those of you that are engineers, or electrical experts will not like the simple way I describe the assembly, but I hope those of you like me (with no formal training in engineering or electrical) will appreciate the simple way I have written this. After you have all the parts and materials in hand, it will be almost as simple as looking at the pics/diagrams and just duplicating that. You will be cutting out the template for the mounting bracket, taping it to your metal raw material, tracing out the bolt holes and mounting locations, then cutting away.

JHL---I will send you a quick private message.

LIBoater---Now, that is the kind of talk I like to hear.

whichita---I hear what you are saying.

........late breaking news...........

Hang on to your hat, because this "kit" may be coming to a major retailer near you soon.

There is something in the works, and we should know what develops pretty soon. I will keep you guys posted.

Awesome Chris!!!!! Definately keep youre CAC friends in the loop on the updates =))))

Update?

Anything new on this? I'd like to get this done before the Power Tour comes thru here at the end of May.

A major Corvette Aftermarket sales/manufacturer is looking at the design right now. This went into high gear right after I started this thread. I expect them to give me an answer soon. It will be tough to make your deadline.

I will keep you guys posted.

Dang, it was more fun when it was a home grown kinda thing.
