I was wondering if someone can help me out. Just bought a 1985 that needs a little work..Was checking out the engine and noticed my Esc was in the side of the block but no wire connected to it. Where does this single wire lead to? Do I really need it. What does it do ? thank for your help :confused

First of all, that's not the ESC. That's the knock sensor. The ESC is in side the ECM and is what interprets the knock sensor signal then retards the spark when knock is detected.

If there's no wire connected, look around. If you still can't find it, you'll need to repair the wiring harness. The instructions to do that are in the 1985 Corvette Service Manual.

Thank you for correcting me.I will dive into it this week end....
