The tune up sticker under the hood contained emissions information. There was also an emissions certification label on the driver's door. The 1981 assembly instruction manual (AIM) will show you were they were placed and will list the original GM part numbers for the stickers. Most of the Corvette aftermarket providers carry reproduction labels.

I think there were four different stickers; California auto or manual and Federal auto or manual. If you are doing an NCRS restoration, buy the sticker. If not, you can figure out what you need with the GM service manual.

Karl, The sticker on my 81 is on the drivers side under the hood about eye level with the hood open.

I put mine on last weekend!
Strange thing is that I needed a (cal auto) AUG sticker (if Im correct) but the only had a AUH (Cal Auto) sticker. So in total there were 5 stickers.
For the location. On the left top side of the hood. Under the locking hooke there is a (around 1") band along the side of the hood and inside that is the flat service of the hood. From the corner under the locking hooke. The sticker is located 1" down and 0.5" to the right. (info from the buildingsheet book)

FWIW, mine doesn't have an emission sticker on the bottom of the hood, or on the firewall as some older models did. Never had one, so some may have slipped by without it. Original California car, purchased from MacGruder Chevrolet in Palm Springs.
