engine/coolant question

I'm again cheating a bit as this is not regarding a Corvette:

--What are the short term consequences of having oil mixed
in w/ your coolant?

I posted earlier about my V6 F-body, which, as it turns out, does NOT have a blown head gasket but a leak could be from the intake man. gasket or a few other places, and a cracked block is possible but not unlikely.

--Repair cost is high, which brings me great pause. But I don't have time to look for a new car now.
 
My concern would be in the water flowing the other way and getting in the oil. That could cost you an engine.

Yeah,

I am guessing that as long as it's cold outside, the only concern with the coolant sys. itself is if the oil gums up the radiator/heater core. Or maybe a seal or something which is not designed to see oil.

With the engine, yeah, using water as a lubricant would be bad. This weekend I'll check for it, as it should be the first thing that comes out of the drain plug.
