can anyone tell me what the engine idle speed should be on a 1992 350 LT1. mine is idling at 500 RPM, it seems a little low. i was told you cannot raise the idle up because it is controlled by the computer. would changing
the idle air control valve help? thank you for your time.

Any other symptoms? Any codes, current or history (check engine light)?

500 is ballpark but your IAC passages could be carboned up and your TB might need good clean along with resetting the TPS /IAC..
As asked above ; are you having other idle problems?

Sounds Good! My 96 LT1 runs at 450rpm-500rpm in drive when fully warmed up, and 750rpm in neutral...:cool

no, every other things seem to be working alright. i'll try giving it a good cleaning and resetting the TPS and IAC. thank you all for your help. what a great website this is.

Wont do any good to try to set the TPS!! It's non adjustable the ECM does it automatically!! :L:L:L
But it won't hurt a thing to clean the IAC and Passages!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

Does this hold true for an 1989 as well that you can not set the TPS?
