Engine Idles Only if Choke is Closed.

Hello All,

I have a 1975 350 manual shift. Bought a 1604 Edelbrok carb and installed with pressure gauge and pressure valve. Fuel pressure set to 5.5 to 6 pounds. The problem is the engine stalls on idle. If you close the choke down the engine idles fine, but if the choke is open the engine stalls almost immediately. Timing set to 10 BTC. Spark plugs, wire, distributer cap, rotor, coil, fuel pump, filter all changed.

Does anyone have this problem or know what would cause this?

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. A propane bottle with a hose on it is the safest and easiest way to find it.

you have a vacuum leak.....​

Vacuum leak is the most obvious.

Also could be a carb that is way out of adjustment for idle mixture or is defective.
