Any ideas? I have a 77 L82 that has new plugs, wires, cap, rotor. When it idles it has an intermittent miss where the rpm's jump up about 100 rpm's. I don't feel any miss while driving the car. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Maybe it's the vaccuum advance on the distributor that's causing this? It definitely sounds like a timing problem, but I'm not sure what would cause it. Maybe check if you vacuum line to your advance is fine.

Good luck!! :)

The local machine shop guy, Dave, recomended using Bosh Platnium Plugs. I tried them and was so impressed with the differance that I have put them in my Ford PU. I' ve been telling all my friends and they to have been impressed. I also have a MSD elect. ing. and 8.5 wires hooked to a Holly dist. Nothing missing here.

I don't have any experience with them and aftermarket ignition, but with the stock ignition, the general consensus here has been that platinums are a bad idea.

L82Vette: like Stallion says, probably advance-related. Check both the vacuum and mechanical advance. I had a fairly rough idle, until I tracked it down to stuck advance weights...
